Meldrum Academy Pipe Band
- Meldrum Academy Pipe Band was formed in January 2022. It comprises pipers and drummers taught in school by Aberdeenshire Council piping instructor Andrew Gray and snare drumming instructor Nicky Gibson. The band play at many local events including Apple Sunday at Pitmedden Garden, a Community Music Day at Haddo House, Meldrum Sports, Newburgh Gala, school Remembrance Ceremonies, switching on of Meldrum Lights, Christmas and Summer Concerts at Meldrum Academy. They have performed in Concert with His Majesty’s Band of the Royal Marines Scotland at Meldrum Academy. Solo pipers have played at weddings, for Oldmeldrum Rotary Club, at Hogmanay events. At the end of this month the band including 70 other musicians will travel to Holland where they will perform in Mon Schau (Germany), Luxembourg City, Vaals (Holland), Aachen (Germany) and a special ceremony in Ypres at Tyne Cot Cemetery. Up until very recently the band performed in their school uniform but are now wearing the Aberdeenshire Council tartan and your very generous donation has assisted towards the alterations of these outfit and the purchasing of additional uniform items.
