Aberdeen University Organ Scholar

I had previously held the Organ Scholarship at Morningside Parish Church, whilst in my final year of school at the Edinburgh Academy, so I was not entirely unfamiliar with the duties and peculiarities required of an Organ Scholar. It was also a great privilege to sing alongside the Chapel Choir's wonderful tenor section in the glorious liturgical music when required. The crown jewel of the organ scholarship experience was the opportunity to play on the 2004 organ manufactured by French organ builder Bernard Aubertin. The instrument is in the French 18th-century style, ideal for the music of the ancien régime composers such as Couperin and Daquin, which is some of the loveliest repertoire in the organ canon.
